April 2014 – Cyprus Breakfast Programme gets a go ahead: The Cyprus Destination Partnership, a strategic alliance among the Cyprus Tourism Organisation, The Travel Foundation (UK) and the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Programme, signed a contract with Filagrotiki Consultancy Ltd for the Coordination and Management of the Cyprus Breakfast Programme. The Programme will run on a pilot scale for the rest of the year 2014 with a focus on the Pafos and Polis regions. Islandwide coverage of the Cyprus Breakfast is expected to take place in the early months of 2015.

June 2014 – Cyprus Breakfast Trainings on the history & culture of Cyprus gastronomy: A novel criterion for hotels joining the Cyprus Breakfast Programme is the participation of hotel staff in a short introductory training on the history and culture of the traditional Cyprus gastronomy. Hotel staff that needs to qualify as a ‘breakfast guide’ (a new concept developed under the Cyprus Breakfast Project) must go through this educational Programme in order to acquire the necessary knowledge for informing and presenting the Cyprus breakfast products to the hotel’s customers.

July 2014 – First 16 hotels joining the Cyprus Breakfast Programme: The first sixteen hotels have joined the Cyprus Breakfast Programme and are due to adopt their breakfast buffets to the Programme’s requirements. All hotels have committed themselves to implement a set of criteria, explained on the Programme Manual, and have therefore been granted the right to use the Cyprus Breakfast logo. We are already experiencing some unique new ways to present the Cyprus Breakfast corner and new recipes prepared that exploit the versatile character of Cyprus’ authentic product portfolio. Hotel management claims to be enthusiastic about the new concept, hoping to give a value added and a new unique travelling experience to their customers.

August 2014 – www.cyprusbreakfast.eu goes online: The website of the Cyprus Breakfast Programme is now online and frequent updates will be made on events and actions taking place at the participating hotels
